Team New Zealand is making a fuss after learning that the New Zealand Government is selling weather information to Paul Cayard's America One. Data from a commercial buoy was offered to all of the syndicates, but only America One came up with the cash. Over the past few months there have been charges of spying and ramming and now this. Van Liew lost his mast 90 miles from the starting line and had to return to Punta del Este. With time running out Balance Bar is wiring matching emergency funding to Van Liew for the replacement. The rest of the money is coming from a grass roots campaign from the Yacht Club Punta del Este and the Conrad Resort and Casino. Van Liew is the last of three Americans in this race and still has a chance at third place. Position reports are posted daily on Today's news.
