| America's Cup Round 3 ended with a whimper. The last scheduled race left unsailed as both competitors declined the opportunity. Young America was mathematically eliminated when America True, having already won their place in the semi-finals, decided not to race against Le Defi BTT. This gave the French the final berth in the semi-finals and eliminated Young America. Young America had faded in round three after their first boat nearly sank and their second boat suffered additional failures. We had picked Young America to win it all ... so much for what we know. The top six boats now square off to determine which two will move forward to the Louis Vuitton Finals. Prada, Nippon, America True, America One, Team Dennis Conner and Le Defi BTT all move on the semi-finals. Young America, Spain, Abracadabra and Young Australia have been eliminated. FAST 2000 was forced to retire when their mast broke. Short on money and without a spare mast Switzerland surrendered to the logistical nightmare of the America's Cup competition. The semi-finals begin on January 2, 2000 and ESPN will have video at 12:30 AM EST. Mark your calendars and set your VCR's. We update the race results and standings daily with commentary and Press Conference notes from New Zealand. |

| End of an Era With mixed emotion we're putting Mad Max up for sale. She has won many races for us, 34 in the last three years with an average crew of weekend, beer can sailors. But it's time for us to move up to a larger boat. We need more room for our cameras, equipment and extra crew-members so we can bring you better sailing coverage. So, we've just purchased a Santana 30/30GP. From our new platform we will be able to bring you more photographs and more videos of our favorite sport. |
