America's Cup
The Louis Vuitton Cup starts October 18, 1999. Eleven teams, five of them from the United States will square off in a round robin series to determine who will have the right to challenge New Zealand for the America's Cup.
The Olympics
The National Parks and Wildlife Service says as many as 3000 whales may pass through Sydney Harbor during the Olympics possibly causing delays or even cancellations in the sailing events. Can the Olympic Committee say OOPS? Oh well, sailing never gets any TV coverage anyway ... right?
The Race
On December 31, 2000 a fleet of 100 plus foot multihulls will will leave Barcelona Spain on a round-the-world race. This will be the fastest transoceanic fleet ever assembled. Look for daily record smashing runs.
